Stothers, R., 1972: Underluminosity and magnetic fields in β Lyrae. Nat. Phys. Sci., 238, no. 79, 5-7, doi:10.1038/physci238005a0.

Models of the secondary component of β Lyrae involve an underluminous star embedded in a gaseous cloud, disk, or ring. Here I estimate quantitatively the amount of underluminosity of the secondary and show that magnetic fields do not provide a likely explanation for this underluminosity.
