Oinas, V., 1974: A stellar continuum feature near 8800 $Aring%. Publ. Astron. Soc. Pacific, 86, 321-323, doi:10.1086/129609.

Detailed spectrophotometric scans of stars covering a wide range in spectral type reveal a wide absorption near 8800 $Aring, appearing in stars of type F and increasing in strength with decreasing temperature. No satisfactory explanation has been found for the feature.
