Four emission doublets in the millimeter-wave spectrum of IRC+10216 have been identified as the N = 9→8, 10→9, 11→10, and 12→11 rotational transitions of the C4H radical. The rotation and spin-doubling constants of C4H derived from the astronomical data are B0 = 4758.48±0.10 MHz and |γ| = 38.7±1.0 MHz. The lines of C4H in IRC+10216 are about as strong as those of the similar radical C3N, but because of its smaller dipole moment, C4H may be more abundant than C3N by a factor of 4, with a column density in the range of 4×1014 to 3×1015 cm-2.
