Robert Schmunk Panoply Data Viewer Panoply is a data viewing application designed for use on personal computers. Originally developed to support a GISS educational project, it is now used around the world by scientists and students for interactive plotting of Earth science data saved in the netCDF, HDF and GRIB formats. We will review the reasons for Panoply's creation and how they still apply today. Following discussion of the continued development of Panoply over the past dozen years, examples of its features, and what is required of the data to be plotted, we will conclude with a sneak peek at a forthcoming scripting capability.
