Title: Saturn Weather Forecast: Hazy, Windy, Chance of Storms Abstract: Saturn, the second largest planet in our solar system, is best known for its beautiful rings, but its pale atmosphere has always played second fiddle to its more showy cousin Jupiter. The Cassini Orbiter, which went into orbit around Saturn in 2004 and continues to operate today, has changed that, gathering the most extensive observations of any planet other than Earth. If we really think that we understand atmospheric science at a fundamental level, we should be able to explain Saturn weather by applying those fundamental principles. Can we? Despite its foreign appearance, it turns out that Saturn probably has much in common meteorologically with weather on Earth...but not in the way that ground-based observers thought half a century ago.
