An introduction to the 2009 NASA/Glory mission: accounting for scattering by hydrosols and by non-spherical aerosols Jacek Chowdhary, Brian Cairns, Oleg Dubovik, and Michael Mishchenko The remote sensing capabilities of the Aerosol Polarimetry Sensor (APS), scheduled for launch into the A-train in 2009 onboard the NASA/Glory Mission, offers an opportunity to retrieve aerosol properties from space with unprecedented accuracies. This talk provides an introduction to the objectives and measurements of the NASA/Glory mission, and discusses further the modeling efforts to account for (1) water-leaving radiance contributions over oceans and (if time permits, 2) scattering by non-spherical particles.
