Climate scenarios, climate applications, and climate impacts. Climate interactions with agricultural systems and food security

Research Statement:
My research examines the role of climate variability and climate change on the agricultural sector, from smallholder farms to global commodities markets and their burden on society and the environment. I work with climate models and observational datasets to construct climate scenarios and datasets that drive agricultural models; including crop, livestock, economic, and nutrition models. As Science Coordinator and Climate Team Leader for the Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP), I work to systematically analyze and develop agricultural model applications related to climate challenges such as drought, flood, heat waves, and shifting climate conditions. We are also developing new approaches to integrate remote sensing into crop models for seasonal forecasting and analysis, and studying the potential for multi-breadbasket failures.
