Comments:

• Ozone sonde data provided by Grant Allen.
• EOS Aura OMI version 3 daily level 3 global 0.25x0.25-degree gridded data indicate approximately 240 DU during January 19-22, 2004.
• An idealized profile from the surface to 24 km (left panel, white dashed line) is derived from soundings on January 20, 22, and 23, 2006.
• The ozone column above 24 km (right panel, 4.7E+18 molec/cm2) is estimated as the difference between the total column concentration from OMI (6.5E+18 molec/cm2) and the amount estimated from sondes below 24 km (1.8E18 molec/cm2).
