TWP-ICE/ACTIVE MONSOON CASE STUDY
Centered-in-time 3-hour domain-mean large-scale forcing profiles:
Comments:
- Variables from left to right: large-scale vertical wind (positive values indicate ascent), large-scale vertical flux convergence of potential temperature, large-scale horizontal flux convergence of potential temperature, large-scale vertical flux convergence of water vapor, and large-scale horizontal flux convergence of water vapor.
- All variables are calculated from the large-scale forcing profiles provided by Shaocheng Xie using the following two steps: (1) all profiles are first expressed in terms of geometric altitude coordinates above mean surface pressure, thus including a conversion of pressure tendency to vertical wind, and (2) all profiles are adopted at full strength below 15 km, linearly decreasing to zero strength at 16 km.
