The meeting was held Feb. 6, 2009,
at the
NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies,
New York, N.Y.
Agenda: The Official Agenda lists the speakers and includes links to the titles, abstracts and talks.
Purpose: To bring New York's finest Astronomers, Statisticians, Computer Scientists, and Space and Earth Scientists together for a full day to explore potential synergies between our respective fields that may also lead to possible funding opportunities.
Background: One of our organizers formerly ran a similar workshop series at NASA/Ames Research Center in the heart of Silicon Valley, Cal., which was considered quite a success story. For an idea of the kinds of talks presented at that time please view the two most recent workshops, ROSES 2006 and ROSES 2005.
Invited speakers were:
Kevin Knuth,
Departments of Physics and Informatics, University at Albany (SUNY)
(Talk/Abstract), and
Alexander Gray,
Georgia Tech, College of Computing (Talk/Abstract).
