Columbia University's Center for Climate Systems Research (CCSR) at the Earth Institute in New York, NY, invites applications for an Postdoctoral Research Scientist position as follows:
The position is focused on using detailed cloud-resolving model (CRM) simulations of warm and mixed-phase clouds to improve their representation in general circulation models (GCMs). Work is supported by NASA and the U.S. Department of Energy, and will involve a combination of modeling and data analysis, using satellite, ground-based remote-sensing, and other field measurements. Position will initially be granted for two years, and the outlines of the research program have already been established through funded proposals.
The applicant is expected to have a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, physics, engineering, meteorology, or a related field, and past research experience in aerosol or cloud physics. Advanced scientific programming skills are essential.
